back to top   The highest quality broadband service in the most efficient manner

IPSKY Technology

IPSKY's advanced and cost-effective technologies make it a market leader in the broadband satellite communications arena. Developed by Satileon, IPSKY was designed to provide the highest bandwidth efficiency and service quality and flexibility.

IPSKY comprises a set of state-of-the-art technologies aimed at providing the highest quality broadband services in the most efficient manner. Among them:

    Inbound technology:

BM-FDMA - Burst Mode-Frequency Division Multiple Access - Based on the advanced Multi Channel Demodulator, this unique access scheme makes IPSKY return channels more efficient, reliable and stable, and thus jitter-free. In addition, BM-FDMA offers on-demand variable bandwidth SCPC-like connectivity to any remote gateway in the network. Unlike TDMA, which works with shared carriers, BM-FDMA's dedicated carriers are instantly erected upon demand when a remote gateway needs to transmit. This reduces the size and cost of the ODU (antenna and BUC) as it can be sized individually for each remote gateway each according to their respective maximum transmission speed. In contrast, with TDMA, ODU must be sized according to the aggregated transmission speed of a group of remote gateways. BM-FDMA is well suited for all broadband and real-time applications.

BoD - Bandwidth on Demand - Implemented in both the IPSKY hub and remote gateways, BoD dynamically adjusts the channel rate, bandwidth and   power level according to the traffic rate required by the remote gateway. By allocating only the required rate for connected remote gateways, IPSKY's BoD enables savings of up to 80% in satellite resources. BOD also determines the appropriate transmission scheme best suited to the amount of data being transmitted - BM-FDMA or BM-RA - and makes IPSKY a true multi-service platform. To preserve link quality and immunity to bad weather, BoD offers Automatic Power Control (APC) and Traffic Rate Control (TRC). These features adjust dynamically and individually to each remote gateway based on Eb/No and Bit Error Rate (BER) readings

BM-RA - Burst Mode Random Access - Based on a burstable unslotted aloha traffic carrier, BM-RA is suited for the transmission of small packets generated by narrowband applications such as credit card transactions, SCADA/Telemetry and others. networking

MCD - The Multi Channel Demodulator pioneered by Satileon introduces the concept of bandwidth processing, reducing deployment costs while retaining SCPC quality. Traditional MF-TDMA systems use single carrier TDMA receivers at the hub for receiving return channels and sharing bandwidth over time in pre-defined "time-slots". In contrast, the MCD enables flexible sharing of bandwidth across the allocated satellite frequency range. This takes place over multiple, simultaneous, different-sized carriers erected, upon demand, by the MCD

    Outbound technology:

DVB-S / DVB-S2 - IPSKY supports both DVB-S and DVB-S2 for outbound transmission. Due to its efficient DVB-S2 LDPC coding and higher modulations, DVB-S2 saves up to 70% in bandwidth over DVB-S. IPSKY's hub and remote gateways were designed to support Constant Coding and Modulation (CCM), Variable Coding and Modulation (VCM) and Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), combined with hub-managed Automatic Uplink Power Control (AUPC).

    Advanced IP technology:

IP Broadband Optimized - IPSKY provides transparent network connectivity for applications using IP, automatically routing the data via satellite.

Quality of Service - IPSKY provides quality of service based on applications and IP addresses. High priority is placed on assuring real time and business critical applications.

VLAN Tagging/ MPLS - This feature enables both traffic separation as well as seamless integration to terrestrial MPLS networks.

IP Acceleration and Compression improves applications speed, reduces the required bandwidth and improves user experience in interactive applications.
